HomeRound for Android

Privacy Policy

HomeRound is built to work without an account or developer-operated backend. This policy explains what the app handles on your device and what happens when you choose to export information.

1. Scope and developer

This Privacy Policy applies to the HomeRound Android application published by HomeRound Development (“HomeRound,” “we,” or “us”). It covers the app’s handling of information on your device and information you explicitly export from the app.

2. Plain-language summary

  • HomeRound does not require or provide an account.
  • The app has no developer-operated backend or remote database.
  • The app does not contain advertising or behavioral analytics.
  • Your routine normally remains in HomeRound’s private storage on your device.
  • HomeRound does not automatically upload backups, diagnostics, or task content.
  • You control when and where an encrypted backup or diagnostic report is exported.

3. Information handled on your device

HomeRound creates and uses the following information locally to provide its features:

  • household settings, including timezone, week-start, hemisphere, daily task limit, and reminder preferences;
  • selected and custom household tasks, their schedules, pauses, archives, and one-time changes;
  • completed and skipped task history;
  • notification permission and locally scheduled daily-summary state;
  • app-lock preferences; and
  • limited technical diagnostics described below.

The app may read your device’s timezone and locale locally so dates, seasons, week starts, and notification delivery behave as expected. This information is not transmitted to HomeRound Development.

Storage and security

Core routine information is stored in an SQLite database within HomeRound’s private Android app storage. Supporting diagnostic and notification state may be stored in other private app files. Android’s device and app-sandbox protections apply. HomeRound excludes its local app data from automatic Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup.

You may optionally enable App lock. Authentication is performed by Android using the device’s supported biometric, PIN, pattern, or passcode interface. HomeRound does not receive or store biometric templates, your device credential, or the result beyond whether the authentication attempt succeeded.

No system can guarantee absolute security. A compromised, rooted, or unlocked device may reduce the protections supplied by Android. Do not place passwords, access codes, financial account numbers, medical details, identity documents, or other highly sensitive information in custom task content.

4. Data collection, sharing, advertising, and analytics

HomeRound does not transmit app data to HomeRound Development during normal use. The app does not sell user data, share user data for advertising, profile users, or use task information for marketing.

HomeRound does not include an advertising SDK, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, or another application-integrated behavioral analytics or telemetry SDK. The production app does not request the Android Internet permission.

5. Permissions and device features

Notifications
Used, with your permission, to deliver one locally scheduled daily household summary.
Restart and timezone changes
Used to restore or adjust local notification scheduling after a device restart, app update, or timezone change.
Device authentication
Used only when you enable App lock or protect a sensitive action. Android owns the authentication prompt.
Vibration support
The notification library includes standard vibration capability. It is not used to identify, profile, or track you.
Document picker
Used when you choose a backup or diagnostic file and its destination. HomeRound does not request broad filesystem access.

HomeRound does not request access to your contacts, precise or approximate location, calendar, camera, microphone, advertising ID, or broad device storage.

6. Local diagnostics

HomeRound keeps a limited, rotating technical log in private app storage. It may contain application and schema versions, database health, notification state, migration outcomes, counts, durations, platform information, timestamps, and redacted technical events.

Diagnostics are designed not to include task names, task descriptions, backup passwords, file paths, credentials, biometric data, or document contents. Local diagnostic events are retained for no more than seven days and are capped at 5 MB. You can delete them at any time from Settings.

Diagnostics are never uploaded automatically. If you choose Export diagnostics, HomeRound creates a readable JSON report and asks you to choose its destination. That report is not a password-encrypted HomeRound backup. Review where you save or send it.

7. Encrypted backups

HomeRound creates a backup only when you request one. The app encrypts the backup using a password you provide, Argon2id password-based key derivation, and AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption. HomeRound does not store your backup password and HomeRound Development cannot recover it.

Android’s document interface lets you choose where the encrypted file is saved. A destination may be device storage or a document provider you configured, such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Your use of that provider is governed by its terms and privacy policy. HomeRound Development does not receive the backup, its contents, or its password.

Restoring a backup requires you to select the file and enter its password. A confirmed restore replaces current local HomeRound data; it does not merge routines. Backup files saved outside HomeRound remain outside the app’s control.

8. Retention and deletion

Tasks, preferences, and completed or skipped history remain on your device until you change or delete them. HomeRound provides controls to clear one task’s history, delete an individual task, clear all history, delete diagnostics, or delete all local app data and return to first-run setup.

Uninstalling HomeRound normally removes its private local app data under Android’s standard behavior. Local information may also be lost if the device is lost, damaged, reset, or becomes unreadable without a usable exported backup.

Deleting local app data or uninstalling HomeRound does not delete backup or diagnostic files you previously exported. Delete those separately from the storage location or document provider where you saved them.

Because HomeRound has no account and does not hold your app data on a developer server, there is no remote HomeRound account or server copy to delete.

9. Google Play and platform information

Google Play and Android may independently process store activity, ratings, purchases if any, device information, and platform diagnostics under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. HomeRound Development may receive aggregate Play Console information such as installs, uninstalls, ratings, aggregate usage, and platform diagnostics when users and platform settings permit it. This information is supplied by the store or platform, not by a behavioral analytics SDK embedded in HomeRound.

10. Children

HomeRound is designed for adult household managers and is not directed to children. HomeRound Development does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when HomeRound’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected here and, when appropriate, in the app or its store listing.
